在一个日益全球化的社会中，适应能力、敏捷性和接受性比以往任何时候都更加重要。智商和情商是公认的衡量成功的重要标准。然而，许多人没有意识到文化智力(CQ)在帮助人们(和公司)发展繁荣方面的潜力。我们如何在商务会议中预测和处理文化差异?为什么不论我们的主管是中国人、日本人还是德国人，CQ都会很重要?什么技能使我们能够建立更强大的国际关系?这个演讲将涵盖CQ的意义，如何定义它的思想流派，以及提高CQ的直接方法。  

个人简介

Nicholas Kirkland博士拥有英国杜伦大学设计与管理工程硕士学位和新西兰坎特伯雷大学生物医学工程博士学位。在学术界，他曾在澳大利亚莫纳什大学(Monash University)担任博士后，并在日本长崎大学(Nagasaki University)担任助理教授。
       Kirkland博士在11个国家生活过，领导过3个时区的项目，为德国、日本、爱尔兰和美国的公司工作过，参与过许多成功的项目。他目前是莱茵TUV(东京)高级医疗审核员的组长。这项工作需要分析各种医疗设备公司的产品和质量体系，确保他们生产的产品在市场上是安全的(并确保不安全的产品被移除)。
       他的兴趣包括水肺潜水、自动化操作和尝试新奇的食物。

Cultural Intelligence: How to Thrive in a Global Society  

Abstract:
    In an increasingly globalized society, it is more important than ever to be adaptable, agile and accepting. IQ and EQ are well understood measures that have proven to be important to success. However, many people are unaware of the potential of Cultural Intelligence (CQ) in helping people (and companies) to thrive. How do we predict and deal with cultural differences during business meetings? Why does it matter whether our supervisor is Chinese, Japanese or German? What skills enable us to build stronger international relations? This talk will cover the meaning of CQ, the schools of thought on how to define it, and direct ways to improve your CQ.    

Personal Biography:
    Dr. Nicholas Kirkland holds a Master's in Design and Management Engineering from Durham University (England) and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Canterbury(New Zealand). In academia, he has worked as a post-doc at Monash University (Australia), and an Assistant Professor at Nagasaki University (Japan).
    Dr. Kirkland has lived in 11 countries, led projects across 3 time zones, and worked for German, Japanese, Irish and American companies on numerous successful projects. He is currently the Team Lead of Senior Medical Auditors at TUV Rheinland (Tokyo). This work entails analyzing the products and quality systems of a wide variety of medical device companies, ensuring the products they make are safe to be on the market (and ensuring unsafe products are removed).
    His interests include scuba diving, automation and trying new, weird foods.
